Surface Decoration Workshop with Sam Scott

Pottery Northwest is proud to announce this very special workshop with local ceramics rock star, Sam Scott.

This event will consist of an in-depth lecture and demo from Scott in which he will outline and then demonstrate his iconic surface design technique in which the shape of the pot informs the pouring process creating overlapping patterns which integrate the form, surface, and decoration, unifying the overall design. Participants will get a chance to try this technique on their own works with Scott's guidance.

As a special treat, if time permits, Scott will show participants how he makes his own specialty brushes! So don't miss out!

• An apron, or comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. 

HOW TO PARTICIPATE WITH YOUR OWN POT

• Bring a rounded bisque-fired pot or vessel. White or buff clay is best. Both stoneware and porcelain will work.

• PLEASE BE AWARE, if you bring your own pot, you will need to use mid-range cone 6 clay in order to be compatible with our glazes.

• For those who are unable to bring their own pots, we will be providing blanks for an additional $15 each on the day of the workshop.

• We are in Pioneer Square, so please plan ahead so that you have enough time to park. You don’t want to miss anything!

• Attendance at workshops do not grant you Studio Access outside of your workshop time.
