Opening Reception: Friday, January 31st, 5-8PM
On view until Saturday, April 12th
This exhibition was conceived as a way to showcase work from our Pottery Northwest Community that goes beyond traditional ceramics. The artists in each of these classes spent ten weeks exploring special skill-building techniques in order to bring their practice to new levels of creativity. Screen Dreams introduced a truly multidisciplinary approach by combining screen printing with ceramic works. Creepy Creatures delved into the depths of self-definition and inner exploration and how that can be expressed through manipulating and morphing the sculpted body. Color Wheel studied color theory and the science behind color mixing and blending and how that translates into ceramic color mediums. Each and every person in this show pushed past their usual boundaries to create truly inventive works of art. Each one achieved by digging just a little deeper.
