Human Hybrids: All-Levels Handbuilding Workshop

Join ceramics world rock star Jai Sallay-Carrington in this very special visiting artist workshop.  Jai will demonstrate how to build a human torso with an animal head using the slab-building technique, then lead you through building your own small torso, roughly 6-8 inches tall. This is the same technique Jai uses to build their life-sized works, so they will explain how this technique is translated into a larger scale and students will have an opportunity to ask questions.

This class will focus mainly on sculpting your torso form and will not include glazing. Those enrolled in studio access or a class can continue to work on their pieces and use studio glazes. Those not enrolled at Pottery Northwest will be given an opportunity to use underglazes to add color to their works. Our studio techs will do a clear glaze dip for you.

• Workshops do not grant you Studio Access outside of your workshop time.
