Join us for a very special three-part workshop in partnership with the Pacific Bonsai Museum. Participants will make their own custom bonsai pot at Pottery Northwest and then plant a bonsai tree in that pot at the Pacific Bonsai Museum.

Session 1: Saturday, January 25th, 2:00 - 5:00PM

Onsite at Pottery Northwest. Instructors Ryanna Lawson and  Alison Grimm will lead participants will work with clay and learn pinch and coil techniques to design and build their own bonsai pot. Our technicians will do a bisque fire of the works in preparation for glazing session 2.

Session 2: Saturday, February 1st, 2:00 - 4:00PM

Onsite at Pottery Northwest. We will have your bisqued pots ready for you to learn how to glaze. Our studio manager, Taylor Callaway, will lead participants through how to choose a glaze, how to prep your pot and finally, how to glaze your work. Our techs will run a final glaze fire so that your pots are ready for their trees in session 3.

Session 3: Saturday, February 8th, 12:00PM - 3:00PM

Onsite at the Pacific Bonsai Museum.
In the fresh woodsy air of Pacific Bonsai Museum, your Bonsai teacher, Cory Sutton, will lead you on a short tour of the Museum’s world-class bonsai collection for inspiration. Then, you will learn how to work your scissor magic to turn a small tree into an artful abstraction of nature. Finally, you’ll secure your tree in your own pot, fill around its roots with special bonsai soil, and then admire your bonsai as a work of art.

This workshop is open to all skill levels. No previous clay experience is necessary.
