Kelley's first connection to Pottery Northwest was at a clay night in 2018. Since then, she has taken classes at the studio, worked as an apprentice, and now joins us as an instructor. Kelley has a background in architecture and engineering, and she enjoys bringing that design thinking into her ceramics work. Through iterations of sketches, she develops the design of each piece to establish overall form, surface finishes, and glaze patterning. Despite the planning, she enjoys most the experience of working with the clay and glazes, and letting that hands-on process inform her work.
