Bare Bones: Beginning Wheel
Bare Bones: Beginning Wheel
Instructor: Ryana Lawson • Friday • 2:00PM - 5:00PM • September 20th - November 22nd • Beginner • Adult (18 years+).
Starting from square one, this 10-week introduction class will cover the absolute basics of wheel-thrown pottery. You will learn to center clay and become familiar with the cylinder, the fundamental form to shaping cups, bowls, and vases. The class includes techniques for trimming, glazing, and decorating your pots, with attention directed to improving skills in design and function. By the end of the class, each person should have a firm understanding of wheel throwing basics, studio safety and upkeep.
Learning how to throw, like all skills, requires a lot of time and practice at first but gradually becomes easier, making way for creative liberties. While we focus on our skills, each student will be encouraged to explore what drives their own creative process as we move through the basic forms.
This is a Beginner Level Class. No prior clay experience is necessary.
