In this 6-week class, students will design and create work in a series designed for the dinner table. The goal is to make with intention, translating a design plan into a thrown object with a cohesive aesthetic through-line between the different forms. Foundational pieces will include plates, bowls, and mugs. Students will build their skills in making multiples, matching profiles between forms of differing sizes, trimming, and throwing with precision and intention. Additional projects will include a punctuation piece for the table such as a thrown and altered vase as well as a nesting bowl set. Glazing and glazing techniques will be discussed as a way to achieve cohesion and act as a backdrop for food presentation.
This class is intended for intermediate to advanced ceramic students, but if you are newer, have passion and dedication, then please join us in this fabulous class.
