In this hands-on workshop with Visiting Artist Tammie Rubin, students will learn practical techniques to create colorful, complex surfaces using underglazes, underglaze transfers, and slip trailing. They will learn techniques such as sgraffito, incised design, stamping, marbling, and inlay, as well as how to use quick stencils, resist techniques, and create plaster sprigging molds. This workshop is designed to equip students with the skills to create multi-layered surfaces that can embellish functional or sculptural objects. While the students will use greenware and bisque clay, there will be a discussion of how to finish artwork with glazes, ensuring they feel confident and prepared for the process.
