Join us at Pottery Northwest for a very special four-part Teapot Workshop! It will begin with a Teapot Presentation by Dolan from Perennial Tea Room , continue with a workshop series on tea pot construction and glazing and conclude with a tea party after the works have been unloaded from the glaze kiln. Led by artist Nathan Stanfield, this four-part workshop will focus on the functionality of tea pots, wheel throwing the components that make up a teapot, and put an emphasis on comfort and usability.

Are you interested in attending the free lecture on Friday April 17th from 6 - 8Pm and not the workshop? RSVP HERE for a spot at the lecture

This is an intermediate workshop and all participants should be comfortable on the wheel and confidently throw at least two pounds of clay.

Day 1: Friday, April 17th, 6:00 - 8:00PM

We will begin the workshop at 6PM sharp on Friday at Pottery Northwest. Workshop participants and members of the community will convene over tea and an informational presentation on the intricacies of teapot construction by Perennial Tearoom's owner Dolan. Once this presentation ends we will end the night with some throwing demos by your instructor Nathan in preparation for the following morning's hands-on workshop.

Day 2: Saturday, April 18th, 10:30AM - 4:00PM

Participants will meet at Pottery Northwest by 10:30AM sharp to begin getting comfortable on the wheels for the day of throwing and sketching ideas. It would be helpful if students arrived with images of inspiration or sketches of shapes they are interested in exploring with their projects. Nathan will begin the day with demoing how to throw all the necessary parts to a teapot and more importantly the assembly of all the parts once they achieve leather-hard. Students will have the rest of the class to throw, dry, and assemble their teapot.

Day 3: Saturday, May 2nd, 11:00AM - 2:00PM

On this day we will start with a glaze demo that will continue with glazing our wares in preparation for firing the following week. There are some useful tricks and tips which will be covered that help make glazing teapots not so intimidating.

Day 4 (optional): Friday, May 8th, 6:00 - 8:00PM

Final day and celebration! It's been a good class, we've learned a lot and made some friends along the way. So why not come together with Dolan in the Pottery Northwest studios for a special evening of sleepy-time tea using our own creations from the workshop. No better way to end a workshop!

This workshop is open to Intermediate. No previous clay experience is necessary.
