This glaze intensive will help you learn the ins and outs of glaze application. We’ll start by making our very own brushes and over the course of five weeks, learn brushing, painting, dipping and pouring, layering and spraying. Finally, we’ll be spending our last day learning how to apply pearl, gold or silver luster!
This class is perfect for students who feel like they’ve spent a lot of time throwing or building, but haven’t had the chance to focus on the glazing side of ceramics. You’ll leave this class with knowledge of glazing and a few tools to bring home with you too.
It is recommended to have bisqueware ready to glaze! While we won’t be making any fresh pots in this class, you will have the first three weeks of this class (before the greenware deadline) to make things during open studio to glaze.
This is a Next-Level Shortstack class. Prior clay experience is necessary.

• If you are new to the Pottery NW studio, or if you have not attended orientation as of summer 2023 quarter, you must attend the first class to receive the mandatory studio orientation. New students who do not attend the first day will be dropped from the class without a refund of the class fee. On the first day of class, late arrivals beyond 15 minutes after the class start time will not be permitted to join. Returning students should still attend the first day of class as the instructor will not be able to reteach missed lessons and demos to absent students in the proceeding classes.
