Maximalist Tendencies with Breana Ferreira

Join us at Pottery Northwest for a very special hands-on workshop with Artist and Educator Breana Ferreira. Breana comes to us from Red Lodge, MT where she serves as Education Manager for Red Lodge Clay Center.

In this 2-day workshop, students will be asked to look inward and around to develop form and surface reflective of their identity, culture, history, and the places they call home. With a focus on decoration in dialogue with form, this workshop will integrate the fundamentals of hand-building with a variety of 2-dimensional art practices to create layered symbolic surfaces. More than anything, these two days will be a celebration of ornamentation, the self, and of the vessel as an object for personal and cultural narrative.

This workshop is open to Level Up skill levels. Having previous experience in clay is recommended.

• Any impression tools that you are fond of
• Your favorite handbuilding tools
• A good attitude and a mind open to learning.
• An apron, or comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

• Regardless of your prior class history at PNW, it is mandatory to attend the first week's orientation since we are all in a new space together. If you cannot attend your first class please plan to attend another classes orientation in the first week of classes.
• Free Parking in the parking garage located at the entrance on 8th avenue. No validation required weekdays after 4pm and none required at all on weekends.
