Independent Study

Dream it and make it! Come and work independently in a collaborative and creative environment. Pottery Northwest provides a community studio that feeds inspiration and supports making. Studio Access is designed for experienced artists and makers who have the skills necessary to bring their ideas to fruition without instruction. Students enrolled in this program can come into the studio and make any time in an area not in use for a regularly scheduled class. 

Studio Access is intended for people with prior experience working with clay. You will get the most from your experience if you enjoy working independently and have a clear understanding of ceramic processes, including moving your work efficiently through the studio and glazing processes.  If you feel this is not a great fit for you, then please check out our other classes.

What's Included?

• Unlimited studio access during open studio hours during open studio hours every day for the duration of the quarter from 10AM to 9PM. 
• Personal shelf space for storage of tools, clay, & in-process work
• Communal tools and equipment
• Access to slab roller, extruder and spray booth (training required)
• Free glazes, oxides and slips
• Free, unlimited firings*

Eligibility: Studio Access is intended for Intermediate and Advanced ceramic makers who want to work independently in our studio. No instruction is included with a Studio Access membership.

Mandatory Orientation: Due to our relocation it is essential that everyone attends an orientation on the first week of classes in order to receive building access codes and shelf space.

Please Note:

• WE HAVE MOVED STUIO LOCATIONS. Our new address is 2250 7th Ave, Seattle, WA 98121
• Regardless of your prior class history at PNW, it is mandatory to attend the first week's orientation since we are all in a new space together.
• Due to our relocation and time of the year, this quarter will consist of all 6-week classes instead of the normal 10-weeks. We will begin with our regular cycle of 10-week classes in January of 2027.
• THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES FROM NOVEMBER 23 - 29. Classes will resume on Monday November 30th
• Free Parking in the parking garage located at the entrance on 8th avenue. No validation required weekdays after 4pm and none required at all on weekends.
