Expand your knowledge of Glaze Chemistry through continued research and experimentation over this 10-week class. Students in this class should expect to work outside of class researching glaze recipes and artists that they would like to deconstruct, develop, or expand upon in an effort to apply and adapt these recipes to your personal bodies of work. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to scale up to larger batches of glaze as well as adapt glazes from Glazy.org and other publications. Since it is implied that participants have previously participated in a Glaze Chemistry class, this class will have less assignments and be more self-directed with the assistance and expertise from their instructor Ryana.
The course culminates in a collaborative session where you'll share your findings and learn from the results of others. Ideal for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of ceramic materials and expanding their creative expression. At the end of the session we will hold a potluck and discussion of all our findings!
This is an Intermediate Level class. Prior clay experience is necessary.
