Pottery Northwest is proud to be partnering with the fabulous folks at East Creek Art to offer our students a weekend wood fire retreat!

Participants will take part in a tutorial session prior to the event where they will be given the appropriate clay and shown how to prep their wares for the wood fire. During the weekend of the event, everyone will have a chance to learn how to prep, load and stoke a wood fired kiln!

Each participant will be allowed 4 cubic feet of kiln space.

Camping is free! For other accommodations, see Accommodations section below.

While the kiln is stoked over the course of two days, participants can camp out and enjoy a raku session and some delicious wood fired pizza.

Saturday, February 28th, 10:00AM - 4:00PM: Mandatory info session at Pottery Northwest.

May 23rd, 24th, and 25th: Camping and wood fire event at East Creek Art.

The morning will consist of an informational presentation about East Creek regulations and what to expect from the wood firing event. The info session lasts about 2 hours. After a lunch break, participants will be invited to view some demos and be given technical guidance for how to prepare their pots. This second part is optional. Each person will receive a 25 pound bag of clay to prepare work suitable for the wood fire.
