In this class students will learn all the basics of working with clay from working with slabs, to pinching and coiling and elaborate surface decoration. We will go over simple projects as well as bigger sculpture projects if the student is ready. By the end of class, each student should have their own project and preferred building style.
Most classes begin with a demonstration of the technique to be learned that day, followed by class work time and individual guidance by the instructor as time allows. Each student will be guided and encouraged to explore your own personal styles as we move through different types of forms. Individuality is highly encouraged! The final class will be dedicated to a fun gathering and potluck where students will discuss their works with each other and the instructor and exchange ideas on their work and what they learned.
