Ryan McDonald is a Seattle-area ceramic artist and educator whose wheel-work explores the relationship between form, surface, and clay. Carving, layered slips and glazes, and varied firing processes are central to his pottery practice.

Ryan works full-time as the Ceramics Instructional Lab Technician at Green River College in Auburn, Washington. His current work explores iconography connected to his West and Central African diasporic heritage alongside techniques and visual traditions he admires from cultures around the world, past and present.
